October Village Market

Ruddington Village Market takes place on The Green on the first Saturday of each month (except January) by permission of Ruddington Parish Council.

Organised by the award-winning Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP.) It attracts traders and visitors from across the area. Stalls and stands are set up utilising all areas of our village green, offering a large area for a wide variety of goods, produce, plants, confectionery, quality crafts and provisions.

For Saturday 2nd October there are expected to be over 60 stall-holders again plus ‘live’ music from a new act this Saturday – Mic ‘n’ Deb “singing and playing an eclectic mix of, contemporary folk, R&B, country blues and pop from the 50s through to 90s and beyond”-with the popular open market running from 9.00am to 12.30pm as usual.
October’s Ruddington Village Market on The Green is laid out like this…

The stands are run by village retailers (marked with a gold star)- including Solstice Brewing andThe Split Screen Coffee Company- as well as popular market traders visiting from across the region. As the selection of stall holders changes every month, there are always some surprises, so do keep checking back!

RVCP’sCharity of the Month is ‘Pom Poms for Alfie’- raising money for MECP2 Duplication Syndromeresearch. Little Alfie from Ruddington has it, and his mummy Katie will be bringing along her own hand-illustrated Christmas cards, as well pom pom garlands, key rings, stars and pencils, and lots of Christmas decorations made by hand by Alfie’s close family and friends to raise money for the MECP2 Duplication Syndrome Research Fund at Reverse Rett.

This month, RVCP starts a new team-up with YouNG Network Group, an initiative by Trent Bridge Community Trust, funded by Rushcliffe Borough Council, to help local young people to develop employability skills through work experience, market events and ambassadorship. Providing a space for their inspirational young people to be at the market each month, Ruddington is supporting them in gaining valuable experience of the first steps towards running a small business.

Also attending the market again this month is RVCP’s first ‘Young Entrepreneur’ Lucy, with her IN the MIX brownies. It’s a scheme run in partnership within partnership with Black Cat Accounting, The Bottle Top and WigWag. Ruddington Parish Councilis also continuing its consultation for its proposed new village Community Centre behind The Green (artist impression below) – with chance for you to chat and make comments and suggestions to Councillors at their stall.

Market-goers are also encouraged to visit our other independent businesses in Ruddington such as Philo’s Espresso Bar & Gift Shop and The Bottle Top on High Street. If you’re looking for a new home, you may even like to call in at Benwell Daykin or Thomas James estate agents, whilst you’re here, too?

As usual, there will also be a separately run ‘Craft Market’ from 9am until midday at The White Horse on Church Street.

For visitors remaining concerned about COVID-19, organisers say the main market will continue to offer hand sanitiser stations throughout the site, and stallholders will be requested to offer contactless payment. Use of masks or screens by traders will not be mandatory, although some are continuing this.

As a member of the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), a close eye will be kept on any changes to best practises with respect to COVID safety at outdoor markets, and RVCP’s market team will continue to follow the guidance provided by Environmental Health and local authorities.

Although additional Village Market parking will be offered again at Croft Printing and The Hermitage, both on Wilford Road, spaces will still be at a premium. So why not leave the car at home and walk – or catch the bus if you’re travelling from outside Ruddington? Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 & Green 10buses stop on The Green.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL…
